This is what it looked like before.

First step is the demolition... Sam helped.

Next I had to move the drainpipe and get it to fit a 3 piece drain... I tried doing this myself unsuccessfully. It required jack hammering through my foundation and after renting a jack hammer and working for several hours, I decided to hire a plumber to do it. I am really glad that I did too.

Next I built the frame for the shower step and also a box around all the pipes.

Then I laid down a "show pan liner" which is basically a really thick piece of plastic to prevent water from leaking underneath the shower.

After that I started boarding up the walls with cement board - which is water and mold resistant. You can also see that I cut a hole out for the floor drain.

Once the walls were finished it was time to work on laying the cement for the floor. To create a "pitch" for the floor I bought a "pitch-kit". Essentially it is a kit of spokes that angle down towards the drain so that water doesn't puddle up.

I don't have a picture of the cement poured - sorry. So next comes the tiling. I started with the floor.

Then I tiled the walls... I started from the bottom and worked my way up - which isn't really the proper way to do it, but it worked out in the end.

Then for the last touch - the grout.

Here is a before and after...
